Tshepiso Clement Ditshoane, better known by his stage name Mr Sirga the MC, is on a mission to make Sesotho hip-hop fashionable in Orange Farm.
Singing in his mother tongue, he wants to encourage other artists to embrace their own languages to reach fans who may not understand English but love music.
“Music is a universal language, but messages in your mother tongue reach the heart differently. I want people to feel the words, not just the beats,” Mr Sirga says.
His EP, released in September, features five tracks including the gospel song Tumelo ke Thebe, Hauweng featuring Polane, Diropo, Sugar Mama and Drip.
“I’m just trying to make Sesotho music trendy here in Orange Farm,” he adds.
All the songs were recorded, mixed, and mastered at Bayza Bun Studios in Orange Farm Ext 2. The EP is now available on all digital platforms. One of his tracks, Sugar Mama, is affectionately called “Bacardi of Orange Farm” by his fans.
Mr Sirga is also a member of Skhandafest Entertainment, an organisation that supports upcoming artists by organising events and other entertainment-related opportunities.
Currently, Mr Sirga is working on two new singles and hopes to release them next month, along with two music videos. His mission is clear: to elevate Sesotho hip-hop and ensure the language resonates through modern music in his community.
