Residents of Mountain View Extension gathered on Easter Monday, 6 April, at Jabu Botman’s home for a community braai that brought together elderly residents in celebration of Family Day.
The initiative, led by community member Jabu Botman, aimed to honour and appreciate elders, many of whom played a central role in raising younger generations. Organisers said the event was a way to give back and ensure that seniors feel valued and cared for.
“We shared a joyful day with our elders, celebrating Family Day by bringing them together and making them feel special. Many of us were raised by our grandparents, and it is our responsibility to care for and honour them. As Ward 6, we believe that together we are stronger,” said Botman.
The gathering featured food, social interaction and a strong sense of unity, with community members coming together to uplift one another.
Botman also expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, thanking the team for making the day possible.
