Mimi’s Pub & Grill takes stand against crime in Ext 7b
Mpho Moloi, aka DJ SweetmentSA, is set to spread a message of hope at the Two Point Zero event

After a string of shootings in Ext 7b, Mimi’s Pub & Grill is taking a stand with the upcoming event, Two Point Zero. The event will unite the community, showcase enhanced safety measures, and send a powerful message: Safety, Unity and Zero Tolerance for Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

The event will feature live performances and entertainment from local DJs, including Thato Sekete aka DJ Zamg and Mpho Moloi aka DJ SweetmentSA, along with guest speakers, community networking, and family-friendly activities. A significant portion of the day will focus on raising GBV awareness, with resources and support contacts available for victims.

The Pub has implemented a series of security upgrades-including trained personnel, enhanced CCTV monitoring, clear safety protocols, and closer collaboration with local law enforcement-to create a safer environment for residents and visitors. These measures come after a recent tragic incident, and the owner is determined to ensure nothing like it happens again.

Mpho Moloi of Mimi’s Pub & Grill told Orange Farm News: “This event is very important to us because crime affects us all, and we must stand together to fight it. Two Point Zero isn’t just an event-it’s a message. We want to show our community that we are committed to keeping everyone safe and restoring confidence in our neighbourhood. I invite all residents to join us.”

DJ SweetmentSA emphasized: “We cannot talk about safety without addressing GBV. This is our way of saying enough is enough, creating a space where everyone feels seen, heard and protected.”

Community representative, Mtseki Mofokeng, added: “It’s time to show that Ext 7b isn’t broken-it’s rebuilding. Together, we can restore unity, strength and resilience in our community.”

“Together, we can bring light where there was darkness. We can prove that Ext 7b stands strong, united and against all forms of violence,” organisers added.

Two Point Zero takes place at Mimi’s Pub & Grill, Ext 7, on 29 November. For more information, contact the organisers at 069 801 3438.
