Masibambane College is beaming with pride as Grade 7 learner, Lance Mtomba, clinched first place at the 2025 Spelling Bee Provincial Competition, held on Saturday, 6 September at the Market Theatre and hosted by the Windybrow Arts Centre.

Lance, who hails from Orange Farm, walked away with an impressive R12,000 cash prize, a tablet, and secured an additional R10,000 prize for his school. He will now represent Gauteng in the highly anticipated National Competition at Sun City this December.

Speaking on the victory, Masibambane College expressed excitement:

“We are extremely proud of Lance’s outstanding achievement. His dedication, hard work, and passion for learning have inspired not only his peers but the entire school community. We have no doubt that he will continue to shine at the national stage,” the school said.

The college extended heartfelt wishes to Lance as he prepares for the next round of the competition.
