Authorities confirmed that the suspects were arrested for various offences, including contravention of immigration laws, possession of drugs, and theft of mining equipment.
Acting Sedibeng District Commissioner, Brigadier Mashole Manamela, praised the joint efforts of all law enforcement agencies, saying continued operations will be conducted across the district to combat crime and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice.
“All 42 suspects were detained at Orange Farm SAPS and will appear before the Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court on their respective charges,” said Sgt Shaan Motsapi.
Police say similar multi-agency operations will continue in the Sedibeng District as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen law and order.
