From 26 July, the Orange Farm Local Football Association (LFA), in partnership with FARPost, hosted an impactful weekend of football development and youth empowerment.
The three-day programme included coaching seminars, clinics and school visits, with the goal of uplifting both coaches and learners in the community.
The event kicked off with motivational visits to two local schools – Theta Secondary School and Masibambane College where learners were encouraged to stay focused, avoid drugs and gangsterism and believe in their potential. One of the highlights was the presence of former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates legend Edward Motale, who shared his personal journey and inspired the youth.
Saturday’s focus shifted to developing local coaches, with a dynamic coaching seminar led by former SAFA Technical Director Sudesh Singh Steenbok. The workshop offered practical insights, technical guidance and modern strategies aimed at enhancing coaching standards in the region.
LFA chairperson Patrick Mokwena praised the initiative, saying: “Our mission is to build more than just players we’re building a future. By investing in both our coaches and our youth, we’re creating a stronger, safer and more empowered community through football.”
The event was a resounding success, with enthusiastic participation from local coaches, learners and community members alike. Orange Farm LFA continues to lead the way in using sport as a tool for education, transformation and hope.
