Lakeside Sakhile FC’s U17 squad has solidified their status as champions by winning the prestigious Pooe Festive Games, held in Evaton from 12 to 30 December.
Competing against 20 formidable teams, the U17s showcased exceptional skill, teamwork and determination to claim the coveted title. This victory adds another feather to the cap of Lakeside Sakhile FC, a team increasingly known for their dominance in local football.
While their U15 side narrowly missed out in the semifinals of the Pooe Festive Games, they recently clinched the 2-Short Top 8 championship, further underlining the club’s growing reputation as a powerhouse in youth football.
“We participated with two divisions, U15 and U17. Although the U15s fell short in the semifinals, the U17s made us proud by winning the final. Their character, dedication and hunger to succeed were evident throughout the tournament. We are also grateful to the organisers for providing such a fantastic platform for youth development,” said team co-founder Stephen ‘Papa’ Nkoe.
The U17 champions walked away with a trophy, gold medals, a brand-new kit and a cash prize.
Lakeside Sakhile FC continues to inspire pride in their community and prove themselves as a breeding ground for young football talent. Their recent success is a testament to their hard work and unwavering commitment to excellence.
