Evaton North filmmaker and sound engineer Bongani Vincent Ngondo (37) has released a free film guide “Book for Amatuer Filmmakers ba an Amatuer Filmmaker” aimed at helping aspiring creatives understand the basics of filmmaking.
The book, published in January 2026, was written during the December holidays and is based on Ngondo’s personal journey of struggling to understand film before finding his footing in the industry. It is available online at no cost and is easily accessible to the public.
Ngondo, who has more than 12 years’ experience in media and 15 years in the music industry, said the guide was created to remove barriers for beginners. “It was done for a lover of film, by a lover of film,” he said.
He is the founder of Da Shak 1507, a multidisciplinary production hub specialising in cinematography, sound engineering, colour grading and post-production.
His work includes several NFVF-funded projects, television pilots and digital series.
Ngondo has also collaborated with well-known local and international artists, including Big Zulu, Mshoza, Soul Candi and Atjazz, among others.
By making the book free, Ngondo hopes to empower emerging filmmakers, particularly from township communities, with accessible knowledge to begin
