A suspected car hijacker was shot and killed after an attempted hijacking in Ext 7A, on 7 January.
According to Orange Farms SAPS, the victim said, he is a local vegetable supplier and was selling vegetables in his vehicle when three unknown men approached him. The armed suspects ordered him out of his bakkie demanding cash. .
As attempted to drive away with the vehicle, the victim drew his licensed firearm and opened fire, fatally wounding the suspect in the driver’s seat. The other two suspects fled the scene on foot.
Orange Farms SAPS Spokesperson Sergeant Shaan Motsapi told OFN: “Upon arrival at the scene, police discovered the body of an adult male sustained multiple gunshot wounds.”
Motsapi added: “the suspect was later identified by family members and transported to Sebokeng Forensic Pathology Services for further processing.”
A case of murder, carjacking, and possession of an illegal firearm was opened for further investigation.
