A talented young netball player from Drieziek Ext 5 is calling on the community to help him realise his dream of competing on the national stage.
Sphesihle Dlamini, who plays men’s netball for Cheteers Netball Club, has been selected to represent Sedibeng Netball at the 2026 Men’s National Netball Championships. The tournament will be held in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape, from 4 to 10 October under the auspices of Netball South Africa.
While the selection marks a major milestone in his sporting career, Dlamini now faces the challenge of raising funds to cover the costs of participating in the tournament.
According to Sedibeng Netball, each player is required to raise R6 460, which will cover accommodation, transport, meals, a tracksuit and a warm-up T-shirt.
“I am honoured to have been selected to represent Sedibeng. It has always been my dream to compete at this level, and I am appealing to individuals, businesses and anyone who is able to support me on this journey. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference,” said Dlamini.
Community members who wish to support Dlamini can make donations to the Sedibeng Netball Federation account using “S Dlamini” as the payment reference.
Dlamini hopes the support he receives will not only help him reach the championships but also inspire other young people in Drieziek to pursue their sporting dreams.
