Reitshepile Developer’s Club from Smart Start in Tjovitjo recently organized a vibrant sports event for Early Childhood Development (ECD) children. The event took place at Skhumbuzo High School in Orange Farm, Spincity, and welcomed children from Tjovitjo Phase 1 and 2, as well as Mountain View.
Despite the rain, the children participated enthusiastically in various activities. Guest creches Motheo Oa Thuto Day Care and Happy Engels Day Care joined the event, showcasing teamwork and the joy of learning through play. Parents witnessed firsthand the importance of children engaging in physical activities and interacting with their peers, reinforcing the value of both in-class and outdoor learning experiences.
For parents whose children are not yet enrolled in any ECD programmes, the event was an eye-opener. Many expressed interest in joining Smart Start’s centers, recognizing the crucial foundation ECD provides before children start formal schooling. The primary aim of the event was to encourage more children to benefit from early education, while having fun and learning at the same time.
The event was well-supported by parents and the local community, who braved the rainy weather to show their support.
Nhlanhla Mokoena extended heartfelt thanks to all the principals for their dedication and commitment to the growth and development of their children. Overall, the sports day was a tremendous success, celebrating both learning and play, and strengthening community bonds.
