Founded by Siyabonga Nzama, Fed Waste (Pty) Ltd has grown into a thriving community-driven recycling business in Orange Farm – a success story rooted in resilience, determination and a commitment to change.
What began as a small buy-back centre has evolved into a company creating jobs, promoting sustainability, and inspiring young people across the township. The journey, however, was far from easy. Fed Waste’s foundation was built on hard work that started with washing community wheelie bins, long before the company became the impactful business it is today.
The road has been marked by challenges, setbacks, and moments of uncertainty, but the drive to uplift the community remained constant.
Reflecting on his journey, founder and Group CEO Siyabonga Nzama, shared that adversity shaped, but never stopped him. “As a black child from the township, I know what it means to face adversity. But I also know that with faith, focus and determination, anything is possible,” he said.
Nzama hopes his story encourages young people to believe in their dreams, chase them with everything they have, and refuse to give up.
He added: “Don’t let your circumstances define you. Your story is not written yet, and the pen is in your hands. Success is not final, failure is not fatal – the greatest hack to success is simply not giving in and not giving up.”
Today, Fed Waste stands as a symbol of perseverance and possibility in Orange Farm. The company continues to grow, create employment, and drive environmental awareness – proving that with dedication and vision, greatness can emerge from even the humblest beginnings.
As Nzama’s journey shows, hard work and determination don’t just change one life – they can transform an entire community.
