In 2020, Hilda Madonsela founded Ekuphumuleni Home of Peace and Development Center to accommodate children and Gender Based-Violence (GBV) victims, she seeks donations of building materials to complete construction at the home in Ext 9, Phase 2.
“I used my savings to build this place, my children also assisted but something happened that led to materials being misused and the work incomplete. Criminals also stole and vandalised the place. I wish to get donations to finish the home, make it beautiful and safe. We need a wall, gate, building and plastering sand; 10 pallets of bricks; 40 bags of cement; 6 interior and exterior doors; locks; garage door; roofing; toilet equipment (seats, basins and showers); beds and bedding,” Madonsela told OFN.
Ekuphumuleni works with the police, Department of Social Development and social workers to give children and GBV victims a safe space.
“We also seek other donations like food, clothes, toys, school uniforms and more. We would really appreciate any contributions. I plead with Orange Farm and neighboring areas to please help us. We have been knocking on different doors, submitting proposals but no responses so far, we remain optimistic,” Madonsela added.
