The Dona’s Mates Youth Development Project is proud to announce the expansion of its National Youth Service (NYS) Programme, reaching eight additional schools across local communities.
From Duzenendlela Primary and Finetown Schools to Kanana Park, Tiisetso, Wheilers Farm, and Sakhisizwe High School, the initiative is spreading its wings to bring greater opportunities to both learners and the youth. Through this expansion, the project has not only broadened its impact in education and youth support but has also become a vital source of employment.
To date, 45 young people have been employed through the NYS Programme, each earning a monthly stipend of R1 484.16. Beyond financial support, the programme equips participants with valuable skills, work experience, and a pathway to more sustainable job opportunities in the future.
Dona’s Mates’ founder, James Shabangu, told Orange Farm News: “This initiative is about more than just creating temporary jobs -it’s about empowering our young people with skills, discipline, and confidence so they can step into long-term careers.”
The Dona’s Mates Youth Development Project continues to shine as a beacon of hope, proving that with investment in youth, communities can rise, schools can thrive, and a stronger future can be built together.
