On 1 March, Deep South Jozi (DSJ) Modelling Agency demonstrated its commitment to community service by visiting orphanages around Orange Farm, including Ekuphumuleni Home of Peace and Development Centre.
Despite the rainy weather, the DSJ models spent the day spreading love, joy and much-needed donations. This annual charity drive is a core tradition for DSJ, as it ensures that vulnerable community members receive winter clothing during seasonal changes.
The agency’s dedication has not gone unnoticed, with beneficiaries expressing their gratitude through recommendation letters and certificates of appreciation.
Xolile Dlamini, centre manager at Orange Farm Children’s Home, thanked DSJ, she said: “Your generosity in donating clothes has made a big difference in our centre. We hope that our partnership continues and may you be blessed to extend your hand even further in community development.”
Community members also acknowledged DSJ’s efforts, with Thandeka Mathe from Ext 9 Phase shared: “I couldn’t make it, but I heard it was amazing. Thank you for your love-our community needs more people like you.”
DSJ models see their role as more than just fashion-it’s about leadership and making an impact.
Model Ayanda Thokoa, said: “Modelling has taught me teamwork, social skills and the importance of giving back. Charity drives bring smiles to those in need because we give from the heart. Visiting orphanages is a rewarding experience and it teaches us the power of sharing.”
Miss Teen Deep South Jozi 2024-2025, Lethukuthula Magida, added: “We promote the spirit of Ubuntu by valuing all cultures and our 11 official languages. Modelling is about self-improvement, uplifting one another and building a positive image in our community. Orphanages provide a safe haven and our visits help empower and support the residents.”
DSJ founder Maqhawe Madela, who also leads the Phenduka Support Group (PSG) NPO, emphasised the agency’s deeper mission: “True beauty comes from self-worth, morality and a positive mindset. We encourage young people to pursue their dreams, whether in modelling or other talents. DSJ and PSG run initiatives on charity, GBV awareness, self-empowerment.and human rights. Our goal is to uplift the community and give hope to those in need.”
Through their work, DSJ continues to inspire, proving that modelling is not just about the runway-it’s about making a real difference where it matters most.
