On 25 September, at Drieziek 4 Taxi Rank, during the Gauteng Provincial Operation Shanela 2, the Gauteng Provincial, Sedibeng District, and Orange Farms SAPS, together with various government departments, PCO, GTW, CPF, NPOs, NGOs, FBOs, ward councilors, and Orange Farms stakeholders, hosted a “Coffee with a Cop” initiative.
The event provided a valuable opportunity for community members and police officers to come together, build relationships, and share a cup of coffee in a relaxed setting.
Residents had the chance to engage with officers on crime-related concerns, ask questions, and have their issues listened to and recorded for further investigation.
The goal was to foster open and honest conversations about local issues, break down communication barriers, and allow the community of Drieziek 4 to get to know law enforcement in an informal, friendly environment.
Orange Farms SAPS communication officer, Sgt Motsapi, said: “Bringing the community and police together over a simple cup of coffee can spark meaningful conversations that strengthen trust and safety in our neighborhoods.”
“This initiative encourages positive interactions between law enforcement and the community, ensuring that residents feel heard, supported, and connected to those serving and protecting them,” Motsapi added.
