Coach Mau-Mau has officially earned his CAF B Diploma coaching qualification!

Former Moroka Swallows U-19 player, Siviwe Figo Mau-Mau, has taken his passion for football beyond the pitch, shaping young talent through his academy, Nathi Stars.

Forced into early retirement due to injury, he vowed to use the sport to groom boys, instil discipline and keep them away from the streets.

Mau-Mau told Orange Farm News: “I believe football is more than a game – it’s a tool to change lives. That’s why I dedicate my time to these boys, ensuring they have opportunities I never had. Running a team is not easy-we struggle financially and without sponsorship, it’s tough. But we keep going because our love for the game and our desire to see these boys succeed drive us forward. Some of these children come from disadvantaged backgrounds where parents can’t afford soccer boots or other essentials, yet they never give up on football. Their determination is what keeps me pushing, even when I feel like giving up.”

His commitment has paid off, with many of his players advancing to top-tier football academies. Now, he has reached another milestone-earning his CAF B Diploma, a prestigious coaching qualification that allows him to train at a professional level.

“This achievement means I can now coach at higher levels, including the ABC Motsepe League and even serve as an assistant coach in the Betway Premiership. It’s a big step towards my CAF A License,” he shares.

Mau-Mau credits his journey to key mentors, including coaches Conti Kubheka and Phera, as well as support from the KZN LFA. He also acknowledges Shange Petroleum for contributing R5 000 towards his diploma and expresses gratitude to the families and organisations that believed in his dream.

Now, the seasoned mentor is ready for his next chapter. “I’m looking for a team to coach and showcase my God-given talent. I know I have what it takes to make an impact,” added Mau-Mau.

He thanked Orange Farm News, Thetha FM and Timeline Radio for promoting local talent.

Mau-Mau’s story is one of resilience, passion and dedication to football’s future-one player at a time.
