Ananda Marga organized a Top 32 U16 soccer tournament to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of its founder, Shrii Shrii Anandamurti (1921-1990). Champions Black Vultures FC received a trophy, soccer kits and gold medals.
The tournament, coordinated by Lebohang, Thandi, Stanley and Menzi, took place from 18, 19, 25 and 26 May at 7B Exchange Grounds.
Runner-up Orange Farm Future Star FC earned a silver trophy, soccer kits and silver medals. Third and fourth place teams, Willpower FC and Pool Magic FC, received soccer bibs and balls.
Individual awards went to:
– Best Goalkeeper: Sphamandla Miya
– Best Defender: Lechesa Lebajoa
– Top Goal Scorer: Tshepiso Shongwe
– Player of the Tournament: Lebohong Mkhize
The next tournament, a Top 32 U13 competition, is scheduled for October.
Anandamurti was a spiritual master, philosopher, activist, poet (composing 5018 songs in various languages) and an author of numerous books on diverse human endeavors.
