On 15 and 16 June, Thamsanqa Secondary School’s netball team soared to second place at the prestigious Gauteng Championships, in Hoerskool Randburg- securing their spot in the upcoming South African Schools Netball Championships.
The national tournament, which brings together the best provincial school teams across the country, will take place on 31 July, 1 and 2 August. It is one of the biggest school netball events in the country, where provincial champions and top qualifiers battle it out for national glory.
The Thamsanqa team, under the guidance of dedicated educator and coach Princess Nchabeleng, has shown exceptional determination and talent. They fought their way through tough play-offs in the district, emerging victorious in all their matches to reach the Gauteng Championships – and now they’re headed to nationals.
Coach Nchabeleng told Orange Farm News: “We are happy to have achieved such results. This shows that we take sports very seriously at our school and we want our learners to excel both on and off the field. I’m honoured to be part of this journey. To represent Orange Farm at such a high level is a great achievement for Thamsanqa. This proves that nothing is unachievable – if you believe in yourself and put in the work, anything is possible. We’re ready for the challenge and excited for the SA Champs.”
The Thamsanqa netball girls have become a beacon of hope and inspiration for their peers and community, showing that with commitment and the right support, dreams can be turned into achievements.
