Phindile Dlhadlha, better known by her stage name Ashantiey, is one of Drieziek 3’s brightest rising stars – a versatile vocalist and songwriter whose journey began long before she ever stepped into a studio.
Growing up, she would create beats in her head and write lyrics to match, unknowingly shaping the foundation for her musical path.
“I always loved doing music. I would write lyrics from a beat I made in my head and it just made sense to me,” she says.
Her professional journey started in 2017 when her brother, a producer, took her to Kastros Studio at just 15 years old. That first studio experience opened the door to a world she instantly fell in love with.
A pivotal moment came in 2019 when Lion Kidd heard one of her early school recordings and believed in her talent even before meeting her. He searched for her and brought her to Jroy’s studio in Drieziek 9 – a defining moment in her growth.
“My journey really started there. I worked with Cody the producer, and in 2020 I started getting recognition,” she explains.
Although she briefly paused music later in 2020, she returned in 2021 with renewed passion. By 2022, her sound reached new heights when she met Navigator Gcwensa, who helped sharpen her craft.
Since then, Ashantiey has featured on a number of notable tracks, including “Kuyenzeka” with Navigator Gcwensa, Limit Nala and Menzi, “iAttention” with Inkos’yamagcokama, Zwide and Jroy (Messiah), as well as collaborations on “Ngithanda Wena,” “Kancane,” and “Ukufunela Bani” by Navigator Gcwensa.
With her talent, drive and unique sound, Ashantiey is ready to make a name for herself in the music scene and this is only the beginning for the Drieziek 3 star.
