Ext 4’s very own Chef Hope Khoza (25) is proof that passion, prayer and persistence can take you places-literally. Today, she lives her dream as a pastry chef aboard the Oceania cruise ship, travelling the world while showcasing her culinary skills.
Her journey began in 2013 while still a student at Roshnee Secondary School. She later trained professionally at the prestigious International Hotel School in Sunninghill, Sandton, graduating as a pastry chef in 2021.
In 2022, Hope launched her own business, Slice of Hope, and gained experience working as a private chef before landing her role on the luxury cruise liner.
Speaking to Orange Farm News, Hope shared how this international opportunity has broadened her culinary horizons. She said: “I can sleep in one country and wake up in another. It’s a blessing to do what I love while learning from world-class chefs and experiencing diverse cultures. What inspires me most is how food connects people across borders.
Hope encourages young people to believe in themselves and stay focused, she shared: “Stay curious, work hard and involve God in everything. My faith, prayers and determination got me here.
Looking ahead, Hope’s dream is to return to Orange Farm with a purpose: “I want to use my international experience to create job opportunities and help develop skills among the youth in my community. Giving back would be my greatest achievement.”
