In a community where many learners struggle to afford after-school classes, the Kinderwerk Mission Project stands as a lifeline for children from disadvantaged backgrounds in Orange Farm. Founded in 2021 by Father Kifle Kirba at the Roman Catholic Church in Lakeside, the project offers free tutoring, mentorship, and even meals to children who need them most.
With seven dedicated volunteers, Kinderwerk works hand-in-hand with schools such as Imbali Combine, Vulindlela Primary, and Qoqizizwe Secondary, giving learners access to quality support at no cost. Beyond academics, the project also runs a feeding scheme to help fight hunger in struggling households.
For many learners, Kinderwerk is not just about education -it’s about dignity, care, and opportunity.
Project coordinator Thabo Motaung explained: “The project is a beacon of hope to learners from poor backgrounds. With so many after-school classes charging fees, Kinderwerk gives hope to those who really need help with their schoolwork but can’t afford to pay. We believe every child deserves a fair chance to succeed.”
From free lessons to food security, Kinderwerk Mission Project continues to build a brighter future for Orange Farm – one learner at a time.
