The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA), on behalf of the City of Johannesburg, has been implementing the R38 million construction of the Drieziek Multipurpose Centre aimed to benefit the Ward 4 and Ward 5 community in Orange Farm.
Once completed, the Drieziek Multipurpose Centre will consist of a new double-storey structure and sports facilities with a gymnasium, pool, library, offices, hall, and soccer fields.
“Phase one of the implementation of the Drieziek Multipurpose Centre is complete. It entailed the construction of an Olympic size swimming pool, a pool for children, a grandstand, a gymnasium, change rooms with ablution and a caretaker’s house. The swimming pool is awaiting the water supply connection and commissioning before handover to Community Development, the end user client. Phase two will see the implementation of administration buildings, a library, a community hall and sports courts. Based on town planning approvals and occupational certificates, phase one will open in Q4 of 2023,” JDA spokesperson, Elias Nkabinde told Orange Farm News.
