Residents will have an opportunity to access information and assistance with social grants when the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) hosts an activation event in Sebokeng today, 29 September.
The event will take place at Trinity Assemblies of God in Boitumelo, Sebokeng, from 09:00 to 16:00, as part of SASSA’s efforts to bring its services closer to communities.
According to the event information, officials will assist residents with applications for all social grants, including the Child Support Grant (CSG) and CSG Top-Up.
Assistance will also be available for grant reviews, the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) R370 grant, and queries relating to methods of payment.
Community members who have questions about grant reviews or who want to check the status of their SRD R370 applications are encouraged to visit the activation.
SASSA indicated that representatives from other government departments and stakeholders will also be available, giving residents an opportunity to access and learn more about government services in one place.
Residents attending the event should bring their identity documents and any other relevant supporting documents required for the services they need.
For CSG Top-Up applications, applicants are advised to bring death certificates for both parents, or a death certificate for one parent together with an affidavit from the applicant regarding the unknown status — whether alive or deceased — of the child’s other parent.
The activation forms part of SASSA’s 20th anniversary activities under the theme “Restoring dignity and transforming lives.”
SASSA says its aim is to continue finding ways of making its services more accessible to communities while helping beneficiaries obtain the correct information about social grants.
