Two suspects arrested after police allegedly found them in possession of crystal methamphetamine during a search-and-seizure operation at schools in the Orange Farm policing precinct on 4 August 2026.
Police also confiscated dagga, cigarettes, matches, scissors, table forks and various sharp instruments during the operation.
Orange Farms SAPS spokesperson Sergeant SJ Motsapi said the initiative was aimed at addressing substance abuse, dangerous weapons, gangsterism and other criminal activities affecting schools.
“Community cooperation is essential in creating safe learning environments,” Motsapi said.
The operation was supported by Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation Lebogang Maile, Sedibeng District Social Crime Prevention coordinators, Gauteng Provincial Traffic Police, Gauteng Crime Prevention Wardens, Community in Blue, Community Policing Forum patrollers and private security companies.
Orange Farms station commander Brigadier Mashole Manamela commended the law-enforcement agencies and stakeholders involved for helping remove prohibited items from the school environment.
Motsapi urged residents to report substance abuse, violence, vandalism, illegal initiation schools and other suspicious activities in and around schools.
