Kgotla Labo Ntate, working together with SAPS, has once again rescued several boys from an illegal initiation school during a search operation conducted on 14 June.
The boys were found behind the Lenasia Industrial area as part of an ongoing effort to locate children who have allegedly been taken to initiation schools without the knowledge or consent of their parents or guardians. Among those rescued was a 13-year-old boy.
The operation forms part of a broader campaign led by community leaders and law enforcement to protect children and address concerns surrounding illegal initiation practices.
Speaking after the rescue, Dr Chief L. Mofokeng said the team remains committed to finding and rescuing as many boys as possible.
“Our goal is to rescue as many boys as we can and return them safely to their families. Many of these children are taken without the consent of their parents or guardians, and that is a matter of serious concern to us,” said Dr Mofokeng.
He added that search operations will continue in various areas as authorities and community members work together to identify and shut down illegal initiation schools operating around the City of Johannesburg.
Community members are encouraged to report any information that could assist in locating missing children or identifying illegal initiation sites.
