A trench collapse at a construction site in Orange Farm Ext 8a, claimed the life of a woman on Tuesday, 12 May afternoon.
Orange Farm SAPS Corporate Communication Sergeant Shaan Motsapi told OFN: “Police responded to the scene at about 12:15, where they found the worker’s body. She was wearing personal protective equipment at the time of the incident.”
According to police, workers were busy performing their duties while an excavator was digging a trench when soil caved in and buried the victim.
“The woman sustained head injuries and was declared dead at the scene,” Sgt Motsapi added.
Sgt Motsapi confirmed that an inquest docket has been opened for further investigation.
