A shift from hip-hop to Amapiano is beginning to pay off for Young Scale, as the emerging vocalist gains traction through collaborations and prepares to release music under his own name.
Born Xolani Maebela, Young Scale is based in Orange Farm’s Drieziek 10 and was raised in Vosloorus. His musical journey began in 2017 with hip-hop before he moved into Amapiano in 2023.
That change opened a new chapter in his career and led to his first Amapiano project with Amora Fohloza in Orange Farm.
Since then, he has continued building his catalogue and network, including collaborations with international artists such as 3D, also known as UCHU, and M Coe from Japan, as well as Vincii from Namibia.
One of his biggest milestones so far is his feature on “Bele Bele” by TT Twin and StarGee, where he appears as the main and only vocalist. The track has surpassed 55 000 streams on Spotify.
“Seeing the streams grow motivates me because it shows that people are actually listening. I want to keep pushing, keep improving and make sure that every song I release takes me one step further,” said Young Scale.
He is now working on his debut single, “Hamba Mfethu”, alongside StarGee and Refiloe Mniki.
The upcoming release marks an important step in his journey, as he moves from featured appearances towards building a catalogue under his own name.
Young Scale says versatility remains one of his strengths. His background in hip-hop has helped shape his approach to music, while Amapiano has given him a new space to develop as a vocalist.
With “Bele Bele” continuing to attract listeners and new music on the way, he is focused on growing his audience and creating more opportunities for himself in the industry.
