A fresh produce donation has become a gesture of appreciation for Amadoda Emizi, a community crime prevention group that assists residents in tracing and recovering stolen goods.
Khonzaphi Mbele handed over vegetables to the group using produce received through donations from Gift of the Givers, choosing to share part of the support as a way of recognising the work Amadoda Emizi does in the community.
The group is known for helping residents respond to theft and recover belongings, often stepping in where families feel they have nowhere else to turn.
Mbele said the donation was meant to acknowledge that commitment.
“Sometimes appreciation is about sharing what you have with people who are also giving back to the community. I wanted them to know that their work is seen and valued,” Mbele said.
The gesture also shows how one act of support can extend further. A donation initially received through Gift of the Givers was, in turn, shared with a local group helping residents deal with crime.
For Amadoda Emizi, the vegetables were more than food. They represented recognition from someone who believes their efforts are making a difference.
The handover brought together two forms of community support — humanitarian assistance and grassroots crime prevention — with both ultimately aimed at helping residents through difficult circumstances.
