Reamohetsoe Primary School walked away with six trophies at the Kool 2B South African National Flag Colours of National Pride Patriotism Awards for Social Cohesion, held at the CT Hotel in Pretoria on 22 August.
The school was among the finalists recognised following the Colours of National Pride Schools Competition, which ran from Vuna to April 2026 and encouraged schools to demonstrate patriotism, constitutional values, social cohesion and national identity through practical and creative activities.
Reamohetsoe Primary received trophies across several of the competition’s pillars.
Its achievements included School Creativity Expressing Fundamental Constitutional Values, as well as The Most Creative Colours of Flag School Decorations.
The school was also recognised for its participation in the Most School National Identity Thursdays Challenges, an initiative aimed at encouraging learners to demonstrate national pride and identity.
Under the Social Cohesion and Civic Values in Action pillar, Reamohetsoe Primary received the Social Cohesion Value of Care of Vulnerable by Learners award, recognising learners’ efforts to demonstrate care for vulnerable people.
Recognition also extended to the school’s staff and leadership. Reamohetsoe Primary’s Values in Education coordinator, Nqobile Mbatha, received the Best Creative Values in Education Educator award, while the school principal was honoured in the Best Patriotic Values in Education Supporting Principal category.
Mbatha said the recognition reflected the importance of making values part of learners’ everyday school experience.
“This award is not only about me as an educator, but about the values we continue to instil in our learners. We want them to understand patriotism, respect, responsibility and caring for others, and to carry those values beyond the classroom,” said Mbatha.
The six awards formed part of 17 national award categories covering living patriotism, constitutional values, creative arts, social cohesion, civic responsibility and leadership in education.
Reamohetsoe Primary also received a Certificate of Congratulations confirming its status as a finalist in the national competition. According to the certificate, participating schools contributed towards promoting patriotism, social cohesion, excellence and unity in diversity.
The awards ceremony celebrated participating schools and their contribution towards encouraging learners to understand constitutional values, respect South Africa’s national symbols and put civic responsibility into practice.
