Just two points separate the top three teams in the Orange Farm Local Football Association (OFLFA) Ladies Soccer League, with Panthers Ladies retaining first place despite a 1–0 defeat to Vaal 016 FC.
The fixtures at Seipone School Ground on Saturday, 26 September, also saw Ellite Queens FC claim a convincing 3–0 victory over Bayern FC, keeping pressure on the league leaders.
According to the published standings, Panthers lead with 16 points from seven matches, having recorded five wins, one draw and one defeat. Ellite Queens and Vaal 016 are both on 14 points after seven games, with Queens holding second place on goal difference.
Vaal 016 recorded two favourable results on the day. In addition to their victory over Panthers, they were awarded a 2–0 walkover against Ambitiouz Sporting FC.
For Ellite Queens, the three-goal win strengthened a goal difference that could prove significant in the race for the top spot. They have scored 18 goals and conceded five, giving them a goal difference of +13. Vaal 016 have also scored 18 but conceded nine, leaving them on +9.
However, two scheduled fixtures did not go ahead. Black Seven’s match against Parabellum was cancelled after neither team arrived at the field. The same outcome was recorded for Black Seven’s fixture against Ambitiouz. Both matches were listed as cancelled, with no result awarded.
Further down the table, Ambitiouz occupy fourth place with four points from six matches. Bayern are fifth with three points from five games, followed by Parabellum with one point from three outings. Black Seven remain seventh without a point after three recorded matches.
With the leading trio having played the same number of games, Panthers have little room for error as Ellite Queens and Vaal 016 challenge for first place.
