Excitement filled the air as scores of learners, parents, and aspiring students gathered for the recent University of South Africa Open Day in Orange Farm, where young people were given a closer look at the endless opportunities higher education can offer.
Held from 22 to 24 April 2026, the event attracted eager prospective students wanting to explore career options, academic programmes, and the university application process.

The first session kicked off at Thamsanqa Secondary School before moving to URCSA Ext 3 for the remaining two days.
Learners moved from stand to stand collecting information, asking questions about different qualifications, and receiving guidance from university representatives about admissions, funding opportunities, and student life.
Many attendees described the event as inspiring and informative, with several learners saying the Open Day motivated them to take their studies more seriously and start planning for their futures.

The initiative highlighted the importance of bringing educational opportunities directly into communities like Orange Farm, where many young people dream of furthering their studies and building successful careers.
