With crime and drug abuse, especially nyaope, luring many young boys in Orange Farm, one man is fighting to change their future through football.
Coach Thabo Mashianoke is on a mission to keep boys off the streets, but a lack of sponsorship is standing in his way. Despite this challenge, his dedication remains unshaken.
As the passionate coach of Royal Rangers Football Academy, he has already made an impact. His U-11 team recently won the Royal Cup, proving that local talent can shine with the right support. Training at Letsheng Mall’s soccer pitch, the academy provides discipline, mentorship and opportunity-but financial struggles are making it harder to grow.
Coach Mashianoke, told Orange Farm News: “I love these boys and want to see them play professionally. We used to have sponsors, which helped us host tournaments and reward players with certificates, but now it’s a challenge. We barely host tournaments anymore due to lack of funds. Still, I’m grateful to everyone who contributed to our recent event and to Letsheng Mall for allowing us to use their pitch.”
Now, Coach Mashianoke is calling on local businesses and residents to rally behind the team. Royal Rangers urgently needs support, whether in the form of soccer kits, boots, funds or any assistance that can help these young boys stay on the right path and chase their dreams.
