Stwetla Entertainment, an independent record label based in Orange Farm, is shaking things up in the local music scene.
Founded last year by artist XVKAY (Nyiko Radebe) and his manager Simphiwe Ncube, the label was born to uplift XVKAY’s music and discover raw local talent.
Since its launch, it has signed a roster of dynamic artists including $treet Tella, Sbuda Kau, O.J PHABLO, Shine, Emza Kay 901, and many others. In just over a year, Stwetla has hosted crowd-pulling events like Mandela Park Shutdown and Kingdom of Dancers, giving a stage to homegrown talent.
XVKAY has already notched a Best Amapiano Artist nomination at the VSM Awards, performed outside Orange Farm and gained over 2.5 million streams across platforms.
Despite challenges, the label bounced back hard. Emza Kay 901’s album Stena hit 300K streams in a week. XVKAY’s EPs B.O.M.B.S and Farmton’s Finest 2 reached over 255K streams. Sbuda Kau’s Ghost EP and $treet Tella’s collab with XVKAY on $treet X EP are still to come. Through it all, Stwetla Entertainment continues to rise loud, bold and proudly Orange Farm.
