For Sanele “Tom”Sancah, dance is not only about music, movement and performance. It is a tool to build confidence, create opportunities and give young people a place to belong.
The Orange Farm dancer, choreographer, artist and event organiser has launched Team Sancah, a growing dance crew that brings together young performers while offering dance classes, after-school activities and personal development.
The team currently includes Killer, Shimmy, Teddy, Monde, Sanza McFlurry, Khanyi and Lumka, each bringing their own style and energy to the group.
Sancah said the vision is to build more than a successful dance crew.
“Many young people have talent, but they do not always have a platform, guidance or someone who believes in them. Team Sancah is about giving them that space and helping them grow,” he said.
The initiative combines dance training with mentorship, discipline and teamwork, creating a positive environment where members can express themselves and prepare for future opportunities in entertainment.
Sancah has already built a strong following through his performances, community work and online presence. He has appeared on SABC 1’s Beats for My Peeps, performed at the Orange Farm Pride Event and continues to grow his name across social media.
His work also extends beyond the stage.
Through his School Tour Donations Initiative, Sancah donated more than 500 pairs of school shoes to learners in underserved communities, with Leshata Secondary School among the first beneficiaries.
He said giving back remains central to everything he does.
“Entertainment can inspire people, but it must also make a difference. I want young people to see that they can use their talent to uplift others,” he said.
With new music, performances, a planned radio tour and youth-focused projects lined up for 2026, Sancah hopes Team Sancah will become a recognised platform for emerging dancers in Orange Farm and surrounding communities.
