Orange Farm United Netball Club celebrated Youth Day in style after being crowned champions of the SAAYC Under-21 Netball Tournament, held at the SAAYC Orange Farm Centre.
The tournament showcased young netball talent from across the community, with four teams battling it out for top honours. Orange Farm United Netball Club claimed the gold medal, followed by Lington Netball Club in second place, United Future Academy Netball Club in third, while VY Netball Club finished fourth.
Orange Farm United produced a dominant performance throughout the tournament, defeating United Future Academy 51-9 in the opening match before overcoming Lington Netball Club 29-5 in the final to lift the trophy.
Coach Sinethemba described the victory as an emotional moment, saying, “I’m overwhelmed with pride because these girls have worked incredibly hard to achieve this, and seeing them lift the trophy makes every sacrifice worthwhile. It proves that hard work does pay off, and they’ve earned every bit of this success.”
The coach added that the team’s discipline, commitment and belief in one another have been key to their recent achievements, including qualifying for the national championships.
The Youth Day triumph marks another milestone for Orange Farm United Netball Club, who will now shift their focus to preparing for the national championships as they continue to build on an impressive winning streak.
