Residents in Orange Farm could experience low water pressure or temporary interruptions as strain on local reservoirs affects supply in parts of the community. A local water-outage tracker, using Johannesburg Water reservoir information dated Monday, 26 October, reported that two of the three reservoirs and towers serving Orange Farm were under strain.

The tracker said supply was being redirected around the Orange Farm Reservoir while it recovered or underwent work, with pressure potentially dropping or cutting out briefly during peak-demand periods. The update follows concerns raised by residents of Extension 1 about the safety of their water supply after a local organisation reportedly conducted preliminary tests in response to complaints about an unusual smell.

Residents who experience low pressure or notice an unusual smell, colour or taste are encouraged to report the issue to Johannesburg Water on +27 (0)11 688 1400.
