Hip hop artist Happy Mokoena, better known by his stage name Phil Cash, is calling on his community and fans across South Africa to help him secure a landmark win at the prestigious 2nd Lesotho National Music Awards where he’s been nominated for the highly competitive Best Hip Hop Artist category.

“This is the biggest category of my life. Till this point, I’m still dealing with disbelief,” said anelated Phil Cash

The nomination comes off the back of his debut single, 1st Marathon, which has been steadily making waves beyond South African borders. The track is currently hosted on SlikourOnLife.co.za and gaining traction in Lesotho, thanks in part to loyal fans like Khombat Lehloholo, who reached out last year with promising news.

“One of my supporters from Lesotho, Khombat Lehloholo, called me and said he’s still pushing my music that side and it’s doing very well. He told me something big might be coming,” Phil shared.

That “something big” turned into reality earlier this year when Lehloholo sent Phil the submission link for the awards. Now, Phil finds himself among a powerful lineup of nominees including Ntate Stunna, Sannere, Omali Themba and Puleng Phoofolo – names he has long admired.

“Sharing this award ceremony with them is not just a personal milestone – it’s history for me, for Orange Farm, for my supporters and for South Africa as a whole,” he said.

Now, the artist is turning to his community for support. “As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child. I believe my support should come from where I’m currently located – Orange Farm,” he concluded.

How to vote: SMS NMA260 to 47439, SMS costs R2. Free SMSs do not apply.
