Ext 2’s Sanele Masilela, better known as Xtreem Makhayeni, is putting his Orange Farm on the mic with the release of his debut EP, “Farmton Baby”.
Released on 7 August, the EP introduces listeners to an artist who is proud of where he comes from and ready to take his music beyond his hometown.
The title “Farmton Baby” carries a piece of home. The project speaks to his roots, his identity and the community that has been part of his journey from the beginning.
“I’d love to share my journey as an artist representing the community,” said Xtreem.
The EP comes at a time when Xtreem Makhayeni has been making his presence felt beyond the local music scene. Over the past year, he has performed at major events, reached the finals of Clash of the Regions, appeared on national television and landed his first radio interview on YFM.
But this time, the attention is on his own music.
Farmton Baby gives Xtreem Makhayeni the opportunity to introduce himself on his own terms and give listeners a taste of the artist he is becoming.
While his name is beginning to reach bigger platforms, Orange Farm remains firmly part of his story. He wants his journey to show other young artists from the area that their postcode does not have to determine how far their talent can travel.
With Farmton Baby now out, Xtreem Makhayeni is hoping the music will speak for itself — and that more people will discover the sound coming out of Orange Farm.
