Orange Farm photographer Sibusiso “Didi Boy” Hlongwane is turning everyday moments into lasting memories through his brand, Blvck African Photography.
Hlongwane discovered his passion for photography while participating in Ballroom and Latin American dance competitions, where he enjoyed capturing emotional moments as dancers received awards and medals. Inspired by those experiences, he officially started his photography journey on 08 March 2018.

Known for his creative and storytelling style, Hlongwane focuses on portraits, street culture and lifestyle photography that captures authentic emotions and real-life experiences.
Speaking to OFN, Hlongwane said photography allows him to preserve meaningful memories for people.
“I love turning simple moments into powerful stories through images because every picture carries emotion and meaning,” he said.
Unlike many photographers who start with professional cameras, Hlongwane began using a smartphone camera while teaching himself photography and editing skills over time.He said one of the biggest challenges was building confidence and growing his brand with limited resources, but consistency and passion kept him motivated.
One of his proudest moments has been capturing dance competitions and community celebrations where people honour achievements and milestones.
Growing up around dance and community culture also helped shape his creative vision and storytelling approach.
Hlongwane hopes to grow Blvck African Photography, work with major brands and events, and inspire young creatives from Orange Farm to pursue their dreams regardless of their circumstances.
