A commitment to uplifting and strengthening communities has earned Abel Mosianedi a nomination for Kasi Community Builder of the Year at the 2026 South African Kasi Heroes Awards (SAKHA).
Mosianedi’s nomination places him among individuals being recognised for their contribution to community development and for making a positive difference in the lives of others.
“Being nominated for Kasi Community Builder of the Year is a great honour for me. It motivates me to continue serving, uplifting and supporting people in my community. Community building is not about recognition, but about making a difference where you can and helping create opportunities and hope for others,” Mosianedi said.
The Kasi Community Builder of the Year category recognises men and women whose work has made an impact in their communities, particularly through initiatives that respond to local challenges and support those in need.
The nomination forms part of the broader South African Kasi Heroes Awards programme, which seeks to recognise ordinary people doing extraordinary work at grassroots level.
SAKHA celebrates community builders alongside entrepreneurs, educators, sports personalities, journalists, innovators, artists and other individuals whose work inspires positive change.
According to the organisers, the awards aim to shine a spotlight on African men and women whose passion, resilience, leadership and community impact continue to shape communities from the ground up.
The public nomination period ran from June 4 to August 16, with a panel scheduled to select the top five finalists in each category between 17 and 29 August.
Finalists are expected to participate in an online meet-and-greet from August 31 to September 1 before public voting opens on September 2. Voting is scheduled to close on 14 November.
The winners will be celebrated at the South African Kasi Heroes Awards ceremony on 21 November.
Mosianedi said the recognition would encourage him to continue contributing to his community and inspiring others to play their part in bringing about positive change.
The awards carry the message, “Honouring the heart, celebrating the impact,” with a focus on real stories, real heroes and real change.
