Residents were left in shock on the afternoon of 12 December, when an attempted robbery unfolded at Boxer Liquors in Orange Farm. Gunshots were exchanged between robbers and an off-duty officer.
A video has been trending online showing the exchange and a lot of praise for the officer, who, despite being off duty, acted heroically to protect staff, shoppers, and the community.

We are thankful that our team and the quick-responding SAPS member were unharmed. Our company counselling teams were immediately deployed, and we are fully cooperating with SAPS in the investigation.
