Ananda Marga successfully hosted an exhilarating youth soccer tournament at the Exchange Ground over two weekends, on 18–19 and 25–26 October.
The tournament drew a large crowd of enthusiastic players, parents, and community members, all eager to witness the talent and sportsmanship on display.The competition was fierce, but in the end, Drieziek Lion emerged as the champions, with Young Juventus finishing as worthy runners-up.
Individual awards recognised outstanding performances, including Kananelo Twala as Best Goalkeeper, Junior as Top Goal Scorer, Spikiri as Best Defender, and Nhlakanipho Mazibuko as Player of the Tournament.
The event was expertly coordinated by Tizaster, Jabulani Bands and Faith Twala, ensuring smooth operations throughout the tournament. Winners took home a variety of prizes: the champions received a trophy, soccer kits and gold medals, while the runners-up were awarded soccer kits, silver medals and two footballs.
Small trophies were presented for the top goal scorer, best goalkeeper, best defender and player of the tournament. Participants and spectators were treated to a selection of food, fruits, juice, sweets and water, adding to the festive atmosphere of the event.
Reflecting on the success of the tournament, Dada Krishna of Ananda Marga said: “Events like these are about more than just soccer. They build teamwork, discipline and community spirit. We are proud to provide a platform for our youth to showcase their talent and grow together in a positive environment.”
The tournament not only highlighted the incredible skill of the young players but also reinforced the importance of sports as a unifying force in the community.
