On 10 May, Ext 3’s Well of Hope Orphanage Centre was filled with music, laughter and heartfelt moments during the WOHO Elders Choir Fundraiser.

Spearheaded by dedicated volunteers Maggie Mokoena, Pertunia Ndaba and Linda Nkonjwa, the event proved to be a touching celebration of community spirit and compassion. Hosted at the orphanage, the event drew in local residents, emergency services personnel and various community stakeholders. It was more than just a fundraiser- it was a gathering of hearts, united in support of the centre’s mission to uplift underprivileged children and families.

Organiser Pertunia Ndaba, told Orange Farm News: The event was a big success. We had amazing support from the community, especially the families of our beneficiaries. The turnout was fantastic and everyone left with full hearts and full stomachs. We also gained new supporters and raised much-needed funds to keep the centre going.”

Thirty committed volunteers worked tirelessly to bring the event to life. Some sold tickets, others prepared meals and all contributed to a joyful atmosphere.

Elderly beneficiaries also joined in the fundraising efforts. Mr Fusi from Ext 10 generously donated a food parcel, while others contributed through ticket purchases and donations. More than just a financial boost, the fundraiser reminded everyone of the importance of giving back and standing together.

Events like these play a vital role in keeping Well of Hope’s doors open and its mission alive. Founded by Mr and Mrs Mokoena, the orphanage continues to grow through love, support and unity.

For those who wish to support, donations can call Mrs Mokoena on 076 918 5622.
