Following a successful series of men’s engagement sessions facilitated by Activate! Change Drivers under the Generation G programme, a crucial need was identified – to strengthen support for young men and boys, particularly around mental health and dignity. This gave birth to the #WearYourSupport campaign.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about mental health, encourage self-care and tackle Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) through education, advocacy and community mobilisation. As winter tightens its grip, the campaign calls on communities, partners and stakeholders to show solidarity by donating essential items for men in need.
Items being collected include: Clothing (in good condition); Shoes (sneakers, formal shoes, slippers); Jackets, jumpers and sweaters; cosmetics and toiletries and non-perishable food items.
Drop-off points include:
Tembisa: TSHAD, 484 Dan Tloome Road, Esangweni Section, Tembisa 1632, contact: Nonhlanhla Dube – 069 215 1049
Orange Farm: Stretford Clinic, Orange Farm Skills Centre, contacts: Dumisani Nhlapo – 076 848 9269 or Nomthandazo Shabangu – 079 284 5400

Speaking to Orange Farm News, Madibuseng Nhlapo expressed the heartfelt motivation behind the campaign: “This campaign is important to us, especially as we prepare to celebrate Father’s Day next month. We want to do something meaningful -to honour men, show them we see and appreciate them. Your donations will be highly appreciated. Together, let’s wear our support and make a difference in the lives of the men in our communities.”
