Ward 5 Councillor, Mxolisi Ndzondo, took Heritage Day celebrations to a whole new level, hosting two lively events that brought together both the young and the elderly.
The day kicked off in Poortjie, where senior citizens dazzled in their colourful cultural attire, showcasing the rich diversity of their heritage. Later, Cllr Ndzondo extended the festivities to the Little Star ECD in Drieziek 5, where the little ones got a taste of tradition.
Speaking about the events, Cllr Ndzondo shared his pride in the community: “We had a beautiful Heritage Day and everyone enjoyed themselves. It was important to educate the little ones about the importance of knowing, respecting and preserving their cultures.”
The day wasn’t just about celebration, but also a time for reflection, as Ndzondo highlighted the significance of intergenerational learning. From traditional dances to heartwarming stories, both young and old came together to honour the past while looking toward the future.
“The energy of the day captured the essence of Heritage Day-unity, pride and the celebration of who we are as a diverse nation,” Ndzondo added.
