Laughter, encouragement and a strong sense of togetherness filled the air as residents gathered on 10 August for a Women’s Day celebration organised by A Team.
Held at Ext 7b, E Baleni, the event was more than a day of celebration. Organisers wanted it to send a message, particularly to young people, about what can happen when a community stands together.
One of the organisers Bongani Madonsela said the event came with its share of challenges, but seeing residents show up and support the initiative made the effort worthwhile.
“I am very happy that the event was successful despite the challenges. I would like to thank the community for their love and donations, and God for His grace,” he said.
At the heart of the day was a simple message: unity is power.
Madonsela said the organisers hoped young people would see the event as an example of how collective effort can bring positive change.
“We want the community, especially the youth, to see that unity is power,” he said.
The celebration placed women at the centre, recognising their strength, achievements and contribution to the community while creating a space for residents to connect and enjoy the occasion together.
Community support, including donations, helped bring the event to life and turned the Women’s Day gathering into a shared local celebration.
