Smiles, laughter, and a sense of appreciation filled the air as Clean Touch hosted a special spa day for gogos from the community, treating them to a day of relaxation, self-care, and recognition.
The event brought together elderly women from different parts of the community and gave them an opportunity to unwind and enjoy a variety of pampering services. The gogos had their hair styled, nails done, and were treated to a relaxing spa experience designed to make them feel valued and celebrated.
The initiative was aimed at showing appreciation to senior citizens who continue to play a vital role in their families and communities. Throughout the day, the gogos enjoyed spending time together, sharing stories, laughter, and creating memorable moments.
Speaking at the event, social worker for people living with disabilities, Tshidi Molefe, commended Clean Touch for recognising the contributions of elderly women.
“Many times, our gogos are not appreciated enough. We must remember that these are the same people who keep most families together. Gogos are the pillars of strength in our lives. They raised us and continue to help us raise our children. Clean Touch has done a wonderful thing by dedicating a day to appreciating them,” said Molefe.
One of the beneficiaries, Nthabiseng Shonisa, expressed her gratitude to the organisation for creating a space where gogos can feel supported and cared for.
“As gogos, we go through a lot, and at times we are not even thanked or appreciated. We come to Clean Touch to relieve stress and participate in various activities. It really helps us get through whatever challenges we may be facing at the time,” she said.
Shonisa added that the activities offered by Clean Touch have become an important source of comfort and support for many elderly women in the community, helping them cope with everyday pressures while building meaningful connections with others.
Community members praised the organisation for investing in the wellbeing of senior citizens and reminding them that their contributions to society do not go unnoticed. The event served as a powerful reminder of the importance of honouring the women who continue to be the backbone of many households.
The day ended with smiles, renewed confidence, and heartfelt gratitude from the gogos, many of whom said they felt loved, appreciated, and empowered by the experience.
