Orange Farm girls cricket U-13 wins T10 Tournament!
The Orange Farm Girls Cricket U-13 team has once again proven their dominance, winning the T10 Annual Tournament at Sacred Heart College, Johannesburg, on 8 March.
Fresh off their back-to-back victories in the 2023 and 2024 Central Gauteng Lions Schools League, the team now leads the 2025 season, with just a few games left to secure the league title once again.
Coach Bongani Ramathe, expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, saying that winning the league is an incredible feeling and a dream come true for the team. He described the victory as a testament to their hard work, dedication and teamwork. “We’ve worked tirelessly to improve our skills and seeing it pay off like this is amazing. It’s a moment we’ll cherish forever,” he said.
Despite limited training resources and coaching equipment, the team’s determination saw them outshine all competitors. Their standout bowlers, Karabo Ngwenya and Zamajobe Sithole, emerged as the top wicket-takers, playing a crucial role in securing the championship.
The team’s success has also been driven by the unwavering support of their parents, who have been present at every match, ensuring players attend daily training and cheering them on. Ramathe acknowledged their contribution, saying that parents’ enthusiasm and belief in the team pushed them to be their best.
The dedicated mentorship of head coach Teboho Ntsukunyane, coach Retshii, assistant coaches Felo and Moratuwa Ntsukunyane and teachers from Itemoheng and Tshepane Primary Schools has been instrumental in shaping these young champions.
With their sights set on defending their title and competing in national tournaments, the team is in urgent need of financial assistance and sponsorships to cover entry fees and training expenses.
