Black Varara triumphs at Ananda Marga U-17 Football Tournament

On 9 March, the Ananda Marga U-17 Football Tournament brought excitement to Ext 7b Grounds, as 32 teams battled for glory in a day filled with passion and talent.

The event, coordinated by Jabulani Banda, Faith Twala,and Themba Kgemisi, aimed to promote youth development and community engagement through football.

After a series of intense matches, Black Varara emerged as champions, showcasing impressive skill and teamwork. Black Vultures put up a strong fight, securing the runner-up position. Among the standout performers was Siyabonga Dlamini, who was named Best Player of the tournament for his exceptional contributions. Nthando was recognised as the Best Goalkeeper, proving his talent between the posts.

Dada Krishna of Ananda Marga hailed the tournament’s success, stating: “The event went well, and it was inspiring to see the talent and enthusiasm of these young players. Such initiatives help keep youth engaged in sports rather than negative influences like drinking and smoking.”

Beyond football, the tournament served as a platform to unite the community and inspire young athletes. Ananda Marga, a global socio-spiritual organisation founded in 1955 in Bihar, India, continues to support communities worldwide through various projects, including children’s homes, schools and feeding programmes.With such initiatives, the future of football in Orange Farm looks promising!
